I used to have a Vitamin Water colorbar in my profile, but I've lost it. I got the Sanzo one back (because we all know gun-toting priests rule ALL) but I can't find the Vitamin Water! OHNOES! I am retarded and deleted it when I updated. If someone spots it somewhere, please let me know. I miss its colorfulness. *cries*

semi-friends only?

kittyfu is semi-friends only, which means most of my posts are friends only now, with the exception of a few which are either a) old or b) posted to the public for a reason (i.e. this post). I'm really a nice girl, very shy but I like friends and hold the few I have close to me. If you check my profile and see we have a few things in common, feel free to comment here and I will probably get back to you. I enjoy a wide range of things including writing, photography, music, design, cooking (yes, I cook) and anime. You can find more details in my profile. Much luv and such, Jess

[ music | "Hold My Breath" - Tysen ]

So today's the big day! Congratulations to me, I finally made it to 21. I used to think 21 was so old! I woke up this morning and found my roommate had gotten a big cake and wrote "Happy B-Day" on it and added those big number candles in the middle. Along with this was a cute gift bag which I am not opening until she gets back. Classes get in the middle of the celebrations, psh! But I had my film class this morning and we had a potluck (because Fairhaven College is way better than the stuffy University) and I brought strawberries which were a huge success. I was to bring "film-inspired" food which I took to mean food that was featured in films. So I was thinking Reese's Pieces (ET) or Baby Ruth (Caddyshack, Goonies) etc. Hence the strawberries (Pretty Woman) and if I'd been thinking I would have picked up some sparkling cider. But turns out it was food that you would eat during a movie. Popcorn, Milk Duds, Jolly Ranchers, etc. I kinda liked our interpretation better because it allows some creativity and isn't so boring. My roommate thought of fried green tomatoes, but neither of us knows how to make them. It's hard to come up with "film food" that's in movies. Can you think of any more?

So that was kinda like a birthday celebration in class, even though it had nothing to do with me. Then my friend and I were running to our next class (history) that we have with the scary/intimidating/asshole professor. When we got there we found out class had been canceled! Talk about a nice birthday surprise! So now I'm resting at home and eying the cake. So far my birthday has turned out to be pretty great. I thought for sure people at school would forget since it's a Tuesday. But now I know they love me! :) I will hopefully get some pictures later and post them. Not many presents this year, but that's no big deal. I really don't mind. Cake = love right now, so I'm pretty much good to go.

[ music | Christmas songs ]

Today was also hectic! I got up and drove my roommate to work, then went to Wal-Mart (er) because I had overpaid for a CD I bought for my mom (60s compilation. The good shit, too) and they had charged me for a Fiona Apple album. Um, YEAH. Anywho, walked around and bought some stuff (which I shouldn't have) then went and picked up my lesson from the IL office. I came home, rewrote that lesson, printed it off along with my final, and ran up to campus to submit it. I had to walk because if you park on campus without a permit, they ticket you for about $100 bucks or something outrageous like that. Plus it's not even my car, so I didn't want to chance it. Then I went back about an hour later and picked up my roommate. Then I came back and started packing. I swear my big black bag weighs a ton! I hope not, but whatever. Maybe my arms are just flabby. :/

So I started talking about my day yesterday and basically got through the college part. The weather's been kinda chilly lately, but the ice has melted. Now we're just experiencing a typical coastal winter. But I'm really excited about Christmas this year. I don't know what it is about this time of year, but it makes me extremely happy. :) Anywho, I've had about a million cups of hot chocolate, a billion pepper-minty things, and have been singing Christmas songs for about two weeks now. Yes, I am a freak, but I'm proud of it.

Oh, and to add to the excitement, my mom said our friend back home is looking for some holiday help at her store, so I may have a part-time job! Woohoo! I have a huge credit card bill to pay next billing period, so I'm trying to earn some money. But I don't want to go back to Penney's if I can help it. My body can't take all that running around and all the stress of department retail. Anyone out there working retail, I feel ya.

So yeah, I think that's about it. I leave on Monday (!) but I might be back on here before then.

[ mood | tired ]

I spent my entire day on campus, from 8:30am to 9:00pm. Not just for classes mind you (that would suck) but just cause I didn't see any point in walking all the way back home to turn around and come back two hours later. It's complicated, but I'm over it. I turned in my final for my late class tonight (cross your fingers!) and now I just have one in-class final Monday morning and a take-home final due Monday afternoon (because I'm going home that evening). I basically have one day of finals. My roommate hates me, but I'm over that, too. :D

I picked up two copies of my transcripts (the official ones) and ordered eight copies to send to schools. A total of $70 for that business right there...honestly, WHY? Oh well. I really want to break the "official seal" on one of them so I can see my grades, but just in case I need an extra for my admissions applications, I won't open one. FRUSTRATING MAJOR! And did I tell you my poetry prof gave me a book the other day? Well, I don't know if he actually GAVE it to me to keep, or if it's on loan. Just in case, I'm not dog-earing pages or writing in the margins which is what I usually do. He did say he had two copies, but just in case. I don't want to mark up what's not mine. And I still don't know which genre to choose. Of course he's suggesting poetry, my non-fic prof is suggesting non-fiction, and I just want to be accepted to a school. That's my main goal right now. That, and spending the holidays with my family.

I'm so excited to go home. I'm going to be working odd jobs around the house for my parents, but oh well. Small price to pay. AND I get to do free laundry. That's a huge plus for a college kid. But oh gosh, I'm so sleepy right now, and there's so much I want to say! I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Then I can finish this post. It's a two-parter "to be continued" sort of thing. So stay tuned, y'all! :)
